Chorus 2022

Moorditj Koort. Moorditj Kaartadjin. Moorditj Wirrin.
Strong Heart. Strong Mind. Strong Spirit.

A work of epic proportion, Chorus 2022 is an intercultural community dance project for women and non-binary people from communities across Perth to join together to celebrate the strength of women.

Chorus 2022 is set to take place at the Koorliny Arts Centre in Kwinana and is the second incarnation of Annette Carmichael’s powerful women’s work. Chorus was first performed in 2020 by more than 150 women from across regions at Silverstream Wines in Denmark, in front of a crowd of more than 1000 people. Click here for more about Chorus 2020.

The project, open to all women and non-binary people aged 14 years and older, regardless of background and experience, speaks for equality and safety for our sisters, daughters, friends and mothers. First Nations and culturally and linguistically diverse people are encouraged to take part.

The project will feature original music, set and costume design by Western Australian creatives and will be led by a team of experienced dance artists and choreographers.

What’s involved?

Women of all ages are encouraged to sign up to find out more about this special project. The choreography will be created to suit your culture, body and ability. No dance experience is necessary!

We are seeking 20 – 30 women to undertake intense training to perform as The Fallen. Originally known as the Core Group, this group of women play a key role in the performance. You need to have some experience with dance or have performed in one of Annette’s past projects. Find out more by attending the audition on Sunday 5 November 2021, 3pm – 5pm at the Denmark Scout Hall.
